Scope: Full replacement of existing floor with a seamless, heavy-duty polyurethane resin system
Area: 3,000m² high-tech engineering laboratory requiring precision flatness
Objective: Deliver a robust, slip-resistant, easy-to-clean floor that allows Air Bearing Modules to glide safely for moving heavy equipment and machinery

Challenges

  • Existing resin floor required complete removal to prepare the substrate for precision installation
  • Floor needed to be exceptionally flat and level to support air-bearing technology
  • Expansion joints required careful protection and reinstatement to maintain structural integrity
  • Surface had to meet strict operational, safety, and maintenance requirements for a high-tech research environment

Our Solution

  1. Removal & Surface Preparation
  • Removed existing resin floor using remote-controlled, diamond-bladed floor grinding equipment
  • Thoroughly cleaned substrate to remove contaminants and debris
  • Applied epoxy primer to promote adhesion and long-term performance
  1. Substrate & Joint Preparation
  • Identified and protected all expansion joints during installation
  • Reinstated joints through cured resin to allow future movement and maintain durability
  1. Resin Flooring Installation
  • Applied 4mm self-smoothing polyurethane resin screed across the 3,000m² area for a seamless, level, hard-wearing surface
  • Finished with coloured polyurethane seal coat to enhance durability, slip resistance, and ease of cleaning
  • Applied a final seal coat to provide a uniform, high-quality finish
