GSS Flooring was commissioned to install a high-performance flooring solution for Otherworld, a cutting-edge virtual reality arcade. The project required a flooring system that could withstand heavy foot traffic while complementing the venue’s futuristic aesthetic and immersive VR experience.

Project Scope & Challenges

The Otherworld VR arcade needed a flooring solution that balanced durability, safety, and visual appeal. With customers frequently moving between VR stations, the flooring had to provide stability, slip resistance, and comfort underfoot. Additionally, the design needed to enhance the venue’s high-tech, neon-lit environment while maintaining a seamless finish.

One of the main challenges was ensuring a non-reflective surface to prevent interference with VR equipment while also selecting materials that could endure repeated use in an entertainment setting.

Our Solution

GSS Flooring carefully selected Two applications of Altro Proof, two-component epoxy primer were applied, prior to the trowel applied, 2mm, self-smoothing, polyurethane flexible resin application.

This was then sealed with two more white seal coats and a UV stable clear resin seal coat to protect the applications beneath. The seal coats were incorporated with a fine polymer bead to increase slip resistance under foot.

The installation was carried out with precision, incorporating smooth transitions between different flooring materials to maintain a sleek, futuristic look.

By using anti-slip surfaces, we enhanced customer safety, while the carefully curated textures contributed to a fully immersive VR experience without distractions.
