Scope: Full refurbishment and installation of a 6mm Polyurethane screed floor with 100mm-radius coving

Challenges
Existing substrate required precision preparation to allow flush installation of the 6mm screed
Heavy footfall and commercial kitchen use demanded a robust, durable system

Expansion joints and thresholds needed careful attention to prevent long-term cracking or uneven finishes

1. Surface Preparation
Prepared substrate using state-of-the-art diamond grinding equipment for optimal adhesion
Lowered thresholds and drain perimeters using precision diamond saws and specialist breaking tools
Removed surrounding concrete edges where necessary, ensuring seamless transitions throughout
2. Screed Installation
Applied a three-part epoxy mortar at thresholds and drains, finished 6mm below surface level
Over two days, 180 m² of 6mm Polyurethane screed installed using trowel techniques for a uniform, durable surface
Installed 100mm-radius coving throughout to meet hygiene and design standards
3. Finishing & Protection
Reinstated expansion joints using a flexible polysulfide joint compound to accommodate movement
Applied a coloured roller-applied seal coat for enhanced protection, hygiene, and ease of maintenance
