Project Overview
Client: Otherworld – Innovative Social Entertainment Venue, Victoria, London
Scope: Full installation of a seamless, flexible white polyurethane resin floor
Area: Main entertainment space, requiring a modern, visually striking finish
Objective: Deliver a durable, slip-resistant, easy-to-maintain floor that accommodates movement from a raised tiled access floor while achieving a seamless, high-impact visual aesthetic
Challenges
- Existing raised tiled floor required a highly flexible resin system to prevent cracking from substrate movement
- Floor had to be completely white and seamless to match the client’s modern design concept
- Slip resistance was critical for high footfall areas while maintaining the glossy visual finish
- Surface needed to be durable, easy to clean, and suitable for commercial use
Our Solution
- Surface Preparation
- Prepared tiled substrate using diamond-bladed floor grinders to ensure proper adhesion
- Cleaned thoroughly to remove debris and contaminants
- Applied two coats of Altro Proof, a two-component epoxy primer, to enhance bonding and durability
- Resin Application
- Applied 2mm self-smoothing polyurethane flexible resin using a trowel to create a seamless surface
- Two white seal coats applied to build protection and maintain visual consistency
- Final UV-stable clear resin seal coat applied, incorporating fine polymer beads for enhanced slip resistance
- Finishing & Safety
- Seal coats protected the surface while retaining brightness and aesthetics
- Polymer beads ensured slip resistance underfoot, meeting commercial safety requirements
